Custom Bayside Residence
This custom home is situated near Narragansett Bay on a large field that was once part of an old horse farm. Baud Builders constructed a shingle-style residence typical of many turn of the century homes along the historic Rhode Island coastline.
The home features design elements such as gambrel gable roof lines often seen in a carriage house, large overhangs above the first floor, and flared western red cedar shingles. Porches and built-in decks allow for winter views of the bay, and main living spaces were sited to take advantage of the southern exposure. Other elements include native fieldstone chimney and porch piers, and a walk-out basement egress to the rolling exterior landscape.
The sophisticated front entry (an arched-roof portico with a rounded mahogany deck) was built offsite in Baud's millwork shop to save time in the schedule and ensure the highest quality craftsmanship. It was installed onsite in one day.
